LESSONS THAT AMERICANS SHOULD LEARN FROM THE 1960's

What aspects should Americans learn based on the 1960's?. First They have to learn when to get involved in war and why should they go? They also have to have the knowledge of the area where they are going to fight. this is the first area in which they have to learn from. Another area is on civil rights, if Americans were ispired by the greatest philosophers saying that all person was born with the same rights, they should apply this to say not to racism and discrimination based on color or race. Important subjects such as the presidential elections also have to do during the 1960's, if Americans presidents do not know how to deal with the problems of the country, make bad desicions, and lie to the people who put their thrust on them. Not only is to worried about the nation or for the people, the environment plays a big role on a country; because depending on that can determine how the country is contaminated and can affect the population.
The first topic to discuss is war because, at first it is not only to show that a country is better than other, when presidents care about this, events like the Vietnam War can happen and result in tragic moments for the nations at war. Also when the leaders do not have the knowledge about the nation whom they are attacking, those aspects can be a serious problem for the troops fighting there; because, they had never been there and like a person said in an interview "they did not know where the place was" they were sent just to fight without knowing the battlefield. Another important aspect is the use of military force. As I said before, the Americans need the knowledge about the area to make a prediction of what can happen if they go. It is difficult to know about the nuuber of troops that they are going to send, but it is better if they first go to investigate how the situations are and make the correct desicion wether or not get involved on it like they did in Vietnam. The goal is not just send soldiers to be killed or wounded; because families lost their loved people and the government failed its mission by trying to avoid communism, but they could not and they just fought for nothing. I think that the government should learn that it is not based on the interest of the own government, it has to do with the country and the population to keep peace.
What about civil rights? as I said in the intruction Americans had their independence and created their constitution based on ideas of the greatest thinkers and philosophers, they also called America the land of  liberty, freedom, and justice, but when the Africans  came to this territory they were slaves and they were threated like nothing. The Americans use the quote from John Locke that said "All men were born with the same rights, life, liberty, and property" but they did apply this, only for white man. The Americans looked like they could not use reason when Africans made the non-violence march, that demostrate that also blacks can do the same as a white. The skin's color does not make you better than other, if white was the supreme color it would never be a black president in the U.S as we have now. It is just that people tell to their children that white is better, they grow with this idea and that is why they make other people feel bad and less than they are. In my opinion I think racism is going to end when all the people understand that color does not matter to be a good and pacific society with equal rights and opportunity.
Another important thing to learn is about presidential elections and campaigns, as watergate had showed that there is not honesty on the government. The government should not try to make a country in this kind of policy when he had showed the corruption that exists on it. It was embarrasing when Nixon was pointed as a hypocritical and deceitful person. Most people lost confidence in the government, and this also meant that a large number of Americans make their vote invalid, but there were people who still believed in the existence of democracy and continued to vote during presidential elections. People should learn to work individually and they are self-sufficient because they still have decency in their generation.
Finally the environment which is a big problem now with the global warming that causes death to many species and they are disappearing and if we do not take action about it we will lost most of our beatuful animals. Also the use of chemical substances that contamine the environment can cause diseases in the future. The use of natural resources can cause the loss of our natural landscapes. We can see the beginning of the problem now and of course it is going to be a really big problem in the future.
In conclusion there are many things to learn we must be aware that we are responsible for this. The human being is unconscious of  what he does, but he should make a reflection and think about it. During war time the leaders have to make hard desicions, but it is better think, before to do something. Well these are the main aspects to learn from the 1960's and I hope someday is going to be no war, no racism, no lies, and programs to work on the environment.
